Hello and a very warm welcome back to Redmoor Academy from the Student Voice, after what was hopefully a good summer holiday for everyone. The last term saw our first school term as Student President and Vice President. Together we worked to establish a fully functioning school council as well as develop closer bonds with members of the senior leadership team. We are delighted that the senior leaders have invited us to meet officially with them every six weeks, providing an opportunity for us to give detailed feedback on our work. This is in addition to receiving strong support from all staff, enabling us to achieve our goals.
We’d like to thank all the students who donated during the non-uniform day that helped to fund the Performing Arts department last term. The £720 raised has gone towards vital repairs to the school Steel Pan Drums, as well as purchasing a new lighting board for the Drama studio. The total for our most recent non-uniform day will be announced shortly, with funds going to support the student council in the work they are going to carry out this year. Thank you to everyone who took part!
Looking forward into this term we have a lot planned. This includes:
- Launching a full environmental review of the school with the Year 7 school councillors, identifying how we can cut down on our carbon footprint.
- Working alongside the History department for Armistice Day commemorations.
- Introducing the revised rewards system with new competitions to participate in and exciting prizes to be won
- For our year 11s, we will be making prom preparations in order to achieve a memorable end to your time at Redmoor.
This is on top of the day to day work that is undergone to make Redmoor Academy the best it can possibly be for every student. We hope everybody has a successful first term back and we look forward to the challenge ahead!
