This year’s work experience is from Monday 19th June – Friday 23rd June 2023.

As a school, we firmly believe that work experience is a valuable part of a student’s education as it helps to prepare them for the world of work. To facilitate the work experience programme we use the services of the Leicester Education Business Company (LEBC) as we do not have the necessary resources in-house.

Key facts:

  • Work Experience is a compulsory part of the Year 10 curriculum at Redmoor Academy.
  • The fee to Redmoor is £60 per placement, we subsidise each placement so the cost to the parent/carer is £35 or if your child is Pupil Premium the school will fully subsidise the cost and there will be no charge.
  • All Year 10 students have been given a letter which explains the process and contains website links for the Self Placement Form and Student Guide .  The application process is online and this will be explained to the students after the October half term.
  • Payment will be required by the middle of November 2020.
  • To help your child fully appreciate the demands of the working world and to enable them to develop their independence and communication skills, we ask that you avoid arranging for them to work within your place of employment unless they can work for a different department or have career aspirations within that field of work.

There are two options:

  1. For LEBC to find a placement on your child’s behalf, your child will need to complete an online application form and list their three preferred industry sectors from the Student Guide.
  2. Preferred Option – For your child to find their own work placement, your child will need to complete a self-placement form as well as the online application form for this option. Completion of the online application form is necessary in case the self-placement cannot proceed for any reason. LEBC will then carry out all the necessary checks to enable the placement to go ahead.
