Exam Information 2018

Definitions of Grades

The results of most GCSE examinations, are reported on a nine-point scale: 9(nine), 8(eight), 7(seven), 6(six), 5(five), 4(four), 3(three), 2(two) and 1(one), of which, 9(nine) is the highest and 1(one) is the lowest. Candidates who fail to reach the minimum standard required for grade 1(one) receive an unclassified (U) grade, which will not be recorded on the certificate. 9-1 overall Grades will be shown on your individual results slip, unfornatually the individual component grades don’t show on this report, you need to ask your teacher or head of department for this information.

The results of GCSE (9-1) English Spoken Language are reported on a three-point scale: Distinction (d), Merit (m) and Pass (p), of which Distinction (d) is the highest and Pass (p) the lowest. Candidates who fail to reach the minimum standard required to achieve a Pass (p) receive a Not Classified (nc) grade, which will be recorded on the certificate.

The results of GCSE Business Studies, Further Maths, ICT, Law, Polish and Media Studies examinations are reported on an eight-point grade scale: A*(a*), A(a), B(b), C(c), D(d), E(e), F(f), and G(g), of which A*(a*) is the highest and G(g) the lowest. Candidates who fail to reach the minimum standard required for grade G(g) receive an unclassified (u) grade, which will not be recorded on the certificate.

The results of Cambridge National ICT is reported on a seven point scale: Level 1 Distinction(D1), Level 1 Merit(M1), Level 1 Pass(P1), Level 2 Distinction*(D*2), Level 2 Distinction(D2), Level 2 Merit(M2), Level 2 Pass(P2), of which Level 2 Distinction*(D*2) is the highest and Level 1 Pass(P1) the lowest. Candidates who fail to reach the minimum standard required for grade Level 1 Pass(P1)  receive an unclassified (u) grade, which will not be recorded on the certificate.

The results of Asdan My life is reported on a two point scale Pass or fail.

Post Result Services

Please see attached documentation, which includes a fees list. If you require one of the services you will need to get a form to fill out either from your head of department, the exams officer or from the Redmoor Academy Website. You must be aware that if you use one of these services your grade could go DOWN as well as UP. If you request a service that isn’t supported by the school leadership team the cost must be met by yourself. In some curcumstances Redmoor Academy will request and pay for a review of marking with your permission. Costs are per UNIT/PAPER not Exam subject.

Certificates

Official Exam Board Certificates will be available at our certificate celebration evening to be held in early December, date to be confirmed. If you are unable to make this date then you will need to collect from the Exams Office at school after the date of the certificate evening.
