In an exciting and unique partnership, students from Redmoor Academy will be working alongside the Hinckley BID, to help shape the opportunities and events available to young people in Hinckley. It is hoped, eventually, to widen this partnership to other schools, so that a committee of young people will be able to have their say when events or town centre changes are planned, thus making Hinckley a place that all ages want to visit, to socialise in, to shop in and a vibrant place they also want to work in. This partnership is being organised by the Redmoor Futures team at Hinckley Academy and Steve Wegerif and Jonathan White from the Hinckley BID. A pilot group of students met for the first time on Thursday 4th March and the youngsters had plenty of ideas about events and opportunities they would like to see occurring in the town.

The committee of students have pledged to raise awareness of current opportunities in the town some of which are listed below:

Students at Redmoor Academy will soon be given their own application forms, via their tutors, to apply for their own card, which will offer great savings at some local shops and venues. For anyone else wanting to apply for a free loyalty card, they can do this here:

Throughout the partnership, it is hoped that Hinckley BID will be able to negotiate some specific student discounts that will persuade youngsters to make more use of their local town centre.

This is something that several of the students were interested in taking part in and it is hoped they will be able to persuade more of their peers to join the event.
