We are delighted to announce that Redmoor Academy has recently invested in GCSEPod, the award-winning digital revision provider used by over 1,250 schools worldwide.

Our Key Stage 4 students now have access to GCSEPod’s library of over 6,000 ‘Pods,’ 3-5 minute videos designed to deliver knowledge in short bursts. GCSEPod makes learning and revision much more manageable: every Pod is mapped to an exam board and contains all the right facts, quotations, keywords, dates and annotated diagrams that students need for GCSE success – all neatly organised into topics and exam playlists.

Your child has already been registered with GCSEPod, so all they need to do now is activate their account by following the instructions below. If they have any issues with this then they can ask their tutor or IT support (Mr Surti or Mr Trown).

  • On a web browser, go to www.gcsepod.com and click ‘Sign in with Google’
  • Enter their school email address and click ‘Next’
  • Select Redmoor Academy from the list of schools
  • Enter the ‘username’ and ‘password’ used for their school email account then click ‘Continue’ to verify the account
  • Students will then be prompted to create a username, a password and a password hint to help them remember the password (these details will be used for logging into the app so we suggest making the username their school email address and making the password the same one they use for their school email account too)
  • Untick any courses that are not studied and click ‘Save’
  • An email link will then be sent to your child’s school email address in order to confirm their GCSEPod account

After getting set up for the first time, students will be able to sign in from any web browser using the “Sign in with Google” function. GCSEPod also has an app available in the Apple or Android app stores and this can be logged into with the username and password your child has set up. Please note that your child will need to activate their account on the www.gcsepod.com site first.

It’s that simple! Once they’ve activated their account, your child can browse the GCSEPod library and create their own playlists – just as they would when they’re listening to music. In fact, one of the best things about GCSEPod is that students can download any Pod to a mobile device, so they can watch them at any time, in any place, with or without internet. It’s like they’re carrying a whole set of textbooks in their pocket!

This year teachers will set some of your child’s homework using GCSEPod – as well as encouraging its use for independent study, research and revision. GCSEPod has the ability to identify knowledge gaps and automatically send playlists to help fill them. After completing any homework set on GCSEPod, your child will get a personalised “Boost Playlist” of Pods relevant to their identified areas of weakness. We strongly suggest you encourage your child to review these playlists regularly as this will speed up their progress.

GCSEPod is crammed with brilliant features, from GCSE-style assessment questions and Check & Challenge knowledge quizzes, to revision skills support and help with dealing with exam-related stress.

We recommend that you talk about GCSEPod with your son or daughter – check that they’ve successfully activated their account and encourage them to make use of this amazing resource throughout their GCSE journey. We’ve also attached a handy ‘Quick Start Guide’. Additionally, please visit www.gcsepod.com/parents where you’ll find lots more information and resources.

If you have any questions regarding GCSEPod please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs K. Nichols and Mrs H. Jenkins
