‘At Redmoor Academy, we have a strong ethos of student leadership and all students have the opportunity to join the Student Council. Being a part of this body helps our students to improve their understanding of democracy and the rule of law and to develop their moral and social skills. They’re given experiences which grow their confidence, increase their skills and encourage teamwork. All Student Council members actively seek to promote and model the values of the Redmoor DNA in all that they do.

Led by two elected Year 11 Student Presidents and two elected Year 10 Vice Presidents, the Student Council team is currently composed of over thirty students from across both key stages who have been democratically elected by their peers. In our system we have:

  • Two Student Presidents (elected from the Year 11 cohort)
  • Two Vice Presidents (elected from the Year 10 cohort)
  • A House Captain for each house in Year 10 and Year 11
  • A House Representative from each Key Stage 3 tutor group, formed into year group committees

As well as helping to lead on our committee areas of rewards, the environment and charities, these students also plan and implement many of Redmoor’s house competitions and initiatives. They act as ambassadors for our school and are a visible presence and influence in leading improvement for their peers and staff alike.
