In addition to the fabulous visit from Lauren James, your child will be exposed to wonderful books in every lesson, as the first ten minutes of each lesson will be spent being read to. Each subject has chosen an extract from a book that relates to their subject to showcase how reading feeds into all lessons. Staff are also taking part in a World Book Day dress-up, whereby your child can vote for the ‘best dressed’ staff member (sheets can be collected from the library). Your child can also take part in a quiz of their teachers’ favourite books, which again will be displayed outside of the library.
During this week, your child will receive a World Book Day token to get a free book or to act as a voucher for an alternative book. Moreover, a digital World Book Day token will be sent to you via ParentMail that can be scanned directly on your mobile or tablet devices at participating retailers – further information on this will be provided.
To add the figurative cherry on the cake, our catering team are also providing a Harry Potter themed menu on World Book Day, so make sure to ask your child what was on offer for them and please let us know if you have any requests for other book-related themes for the future.
