Redmoor Remembers 2024. Thank you to all of our cadets for your contribution to today’s moment of silence and to the whole school who behaved impeccably as we stood together to remember the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community. We will remember them.

The 11th of November marks the beginning of Anti-Bullying Week, and this year’s theme is “Choose Respect”. Statistics from the Anti-Bullying Alliance – reveal that 40% of children in the UK have suffered some form of bullying/unkindness within the last year, with the most common experience being name-calling and verbal abuse. While it can have several causes, this kind of behaviour is commonly seen when a disagreement between two youngsters gets out of hand and emotions take over.
Many children are still learning how to conduct themselves, and it can be difficult for them to know how to act when faced with someone who disagrees with them, or otherwise find themselves in conflict with another person. It can also be tricky for parents and educators to teach them how to resolve disputes in a mature and healthy manner. We are encouraging children to choose respect.

Redmoor Academy are pleased to announce the launch of their Redmoor Enrichment Course (REC) for 2025!
Staff have been busy over the summer months planning a variety of trips and experiences for our REC programme which is taking place 16th – 20th June 2025. We are pleased to offer an extensive selection of experiences, with more abroad options and further UK based residentials, alongside the day trips and more school based options. We believe this programme of choices will build confidence, resilience and independence in our students and is unique to Redmoor in the breadth and quality of what is offered.
Take a look at what is on offer in the REC 2025 booklet here!
Choosing from our offer of 19 different programmes, students need to have completed the electronic Google form with their 3 options (in no ranked order) by Friday 8th November. This form has been emailed to your child’s Redmoor email address.
We have launched this with the students in an assembly today. Please take the time to carefully read what is on offer, talk through the options with your child and encourage them to “try something new”. We ask that students select 3 courses that they would be interested in doing and we will then endeavour to allocate every student with 1 of these 3 options. The options are not ranked; therefore it is important that students want to experience all 3 of their options. If students are interested in a residential experience, we are asking students to choose a maximum of two residential plus one non-residential trip. Residential trips require an initial deposit to be considered for the trip, the details of this are included in the booklet. They can, of course, choose all non residential as well.
Please read carefully our terms and conditions at the back of the booklet.
Although we have made every effort to ensure that the pricing of trips are as accurate as possible, they may be subject to change due to factors outside of our control. Parents will be notified as soon as possible if there are any changes. Pupil Premium students will be entitled to a £50 subsidy towards the total cost of the trip; this will automatically be allocated.
Anyone wishing to seek financial assistance must apply in writing in the first instance to Mrs Sulley, Business Manager.
We are really looking forward to once again providing our students with a variety of opportunities to experience and enjoy as part of their holistic development.
The REC Team
Our approach to homework is based on the following:
- Year 7 students do not have homework set in the first few weeks as they settle into Secondary school and form good independent learning habits. They will then only be set homework in English, Maths and Science for the first half term.
- There will be a parent workshop on supporting homework during Key Stage 3 Information Evening on 12th September. Further information will be sent via Parentmail.
- We hold a homework club (Study Space provision) until 4pm Monday-Thursday with Teaching Assistant support for any students who may need extra time or help.
- All staff set homework on Classcharts which parents can monitor and check as they please
- Increased clarity and training for teachers regarding homework quality and scheduling. This avoids a high demand of homework on particular weeks or moments in the academic year
- A greater variety of tasks have been introduced in each subject, including more creative homeworks, which have proved highly motivating for students and led to many awards for excellence
- Teachers are encouraged to record Key Stage 4 revision expectations on Class Charts so that students are supported to manage independent work
- Improved systems for acknowledging and rewarding homework
- Improved detention system for 2024-25 to reflect the value of homework and encourage students to adopt good independent learning routines (page 18 & 22 of the Behaviour and Relationships policy )
