European Day of Languages

28th September 2023R Communications

On Tuesday, we celebrated European Day of Languages! A number of our students showcased being able to speak another language other than English (including sign language) in an assembly, encouraging and inspiring our year 8 pupils to attend our Duolingo club to learn another language.

100 Talks for Change

22nd September 2023R Communications
Next week, our Year 10 students at Redmoor will be participating in the 100 Talks for Change initiative, a mission by two inspiring young men to travel the country, delivering 100 mental health talks to young people within 20 days. The talk will highlight the importance of conversations about mental health and equip students with more understanding of when and how to seek support if they need it. The Talks for Change journey is being captured in a documentary, so the BBC may be accompanying the speaker on his journey of talks. If you are a parent of a Year 10 student, please see the email with more details.

Welcome Year 7

25th August 2023R Communications
We look forward to welcoming our new year 7 students to Redmoor on Wednesday 30th August. Here are a few reminders about the first few weeks of term:
At Redmoor we pride ourselves on high standards with uniform. Please remember to check your transition booklet or the following link with regards to uniform: https://www.redmooracademy.org/uniform/
If you have any questions about uniform please do get in touch.
On Wednesday 30th August, please enter school through the main reception as year 7 will be gathering in the hall. If you arrive before 8.30am please use the back playground where there will be staff on duty to welcome you.
Over the first few weeks we will be introducing you to lots of new things at Redmoor, this includes spending extra time with your tutor over the first two days. You will be given a map and lots of guidance to help you find your way from one lesson to the next.
Importantly, you will need your ClassCharts login details to access details of homework tasks, reward points and sanctions. There will be login details for both parents and students which you will receive by Friday 1st September. Please note that for the first three weeks year 7 students will only have homework set in English, Mathematics and Science. This will hopefully help students get to know our expectations of homework, begin to complete it and hand it in on time without feeling overwhelmed as they transition from primary school.
There will be an opportunity for parents to attend two evening events during the first half term, our KS3 Information Evening and Year 7 Tutor Evening. We really would encourage parents to attend both events to help support your child’s transition to secondary school. You will receive more details about both events in the near future.
Please do get in contact if you have any questions or queries.
We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 30th August!

Redmoor has been celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III this week!
We’d like to thank our amazing students for all of the cakes that were donated for the Coronation Bake Sale, yet again, we were blown away by your efforts and talent. They all looked and tasted delicious! All of the money raised will be donated to our House Charities.
We’d like to thank Geoff the Chef for his special menu which was served at lunch today, what a treat!
Our students also participated in a lesson during their PHSCE time to learn the history and meaning behind the coronation. We look forward to seeing this moment in History this weekend and hope all of our families enjoy the bank holiday.

We'd like to welcome back our students to yet again, a jam packed term! We hope you've all had a restful break.

Just a quick reminder of the Red Nose Day events shared on ParentMail before half term. Due to the mock exams before the break, we weren't able to have a non-uniform day, but we still have some exciting fundraising events coming up this week!

Bake Sale: This will take place during KS3 & KS4 lunch on Wednesday 15th April

Students who buy or bake cakes can earn house points for Representing Redmoor. If bringing in cakes, please make sure containers are clearly labelled with the student’s name and tutor group.

🏆 Best Bake Competition
⭐ 25 house points for each year group winner
⭐ 10 house points for each runner-up

Staff vs Students Basketball Shootout: Taking place during KS3 lunch on Friday 17th April, run by our PE Sports Council. Who will come out on top?

Thank you for your continued support and good luck to all houses as we get closer to announcing this year’s winner!
