Redmoor Gets Gold!

4th May 2021Miss H WRIGHT

During lockdown, Redmoor Academy has been awarded the ‘Gold Shakespeare School’ by Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation. Awarded to us for the hard work and dedication that has been shown for more than 10 years by the students of Redmoor Academy and of course, Miss Brown. Read more about this amazing award here:

By being a Shakespeare School we have displayed a commitment to providing inspiring opportunities for our students, year after year for over 10 years, helping to keep creativity high on the agenda and support students to build crucial transferable skills for the future. Redmoor has also embedded personal development into our student experience through creative arts engagement. We have encouraged community engagement showcased the talents of young people, supported theatre and engaged new audiences.

The Gold schools are the most experienced and dedicated within the school network for Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation, with the teachers being a part of school network which newer schools and aspiring teacher-directors can learn from those dedicated teachers.

After a difficult year for the world and arts and the CSSF Festival having to be completed in many different ways across the country, we looked at how we could do a radio play, just using our voices and sound to create a dramatic ‘Macbeth’, other schools did film work with some even using interpretive dance. There are so many ways we can express what Shakespeare meant in his plays, whilst captivating a new audience with different styles and adaptations!

As well as a certificate from the managing director of Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation (CSSF), we will be displaying our badge with pride on the school website and letterheads, as well as the school being showcased on the CSSF website.

This year the Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation is offering an array of different options to be involved with, so keep an eye out for ways you could be involved in this exciting creative experience!

Year 11 Leaves Hoodie

4th May 2021Miss H WRIGHT

To Year 11 students, parents and carers,

As we approach the end of the summer term, and students’ time as Redmoor students, we are keen to offer our graduating year group the same opportunities that our previous cohorts have enjoyed – especially at this unusual time. This year, we are pleased to announce that we will again be offering a leavers hoodie.

The personalised hoodie will be a pullover style in light ‘moondust’ grey with a black printed design. The front of the hoodie will display a small Redmoor ‘R’ on the left breast with the back displaying the print design shown in the right hand image below, personalised with first names and surnames of our Year 11s.

The hoodie is priced at £20.27 and available in 6 size adult options: XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL. Unfortunately, due to the current restrictions in place around Coronavirus, there will not be the option to look at samples or try on for sizing. However, full details of chest measurements are included below. We will be unable to accept any responsibility for sizing issues once the hoodie has been ordered, so highly recommend that you take note of the measurements provided.

XS: 34”

S: 36”

M: 40”

L: 44”

XL: 48”

XXL: 52”

If you would like to purchase a hoodie please order via ParentMail, selecting the size option carefully. You will need to do this by no later than Monday 10th May so that our orders can be placed and fulfilled by the end of this half term. Please note orders cannot be accepted without full payment being made. Hoodies will be available for collection on Friday 28th May.

Due to GDPR we now require your consent to: include your child’s name in the print; to share it with our supplier to print the design; and to include it on all students’ purchased hoodies. A separate form has been sent out for you to complete, via ParentMail, in order to give this consent. We ask that students who have changed their surnames check the name that will be printed with one of us before May 10th.

PLEASE NOTE, we will require your consent even if you do not wish to purchase a leavers hoodie. If we do not receive your consent then your child’s name will not be included in the design/print. Please give your consent by Monday 10th May. We will be unable to remove a student’s name once the design has gone to print.

If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact any one of us.

Kind regards

Mrs K. Nichols    Mrs D. Buckingham    Miss C. Burton

Assistant Vice Principal    Year 11 Year Manager    Student Voice & Rewards

We are excited for our annual REC programme next week, providing our students with a fantastic range of opportunities beyond the classroom.

Our KS3 students will be taking part in a variety of enrichment activities, including residential visits abroad, residentials within the UK and a wide range of school-based activities and day trips.

This is an amazing opportunity for all our students to develop new skills, build confidence and resilience, gain valuable experiences and create lasting memories!

We will do our best to keep our Facebook page updated throughout the week with photos and highlights from the many activities taking place. But please bear with our staff, they will be busy supporting students and making these experiences as rewarding as possible.

At the same time, our Year 10 students will be embarking on their work experience placements, spending the week in professional environments linked to their interests and future aspirations. We wish them luck with this invaluable experience outside of Redmoor.

We can’t wait to see what all of our students achieve during this exciting week!

Redmoor Eco Club Needs Your Support!

Our Eco Club students have been working hard all year growing vegetables, herbs and flowers from seed and creating their very own Mealbarrow entry for the Leicester Mealbarrow Extravaganza.

Their theme this year is “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, promoting healthy eating, growing your own food and the importance of looking after our environment. The students have put a huge amount of effort into every part of the project and are incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved.

If you’re free on Saturday 4th July, we’d love you to come along, see their fantastic creation and cast your vote!

📅 Saturday 4th July 2026
⏰ 11am – 3pm
📍 Abbey Pumping Station Museum, Leicester, LE4 5PX
