Ofsted 2021
We are delighted to be celebrating the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection that took place in September 2021. During the two days, inspectors visited lessons, met with staff and students, examined student books and explored the leadership of the school. The school was judged as being “good” in every category and therefore “good” overall.
The report commented on the noticeable pride staff and students have in the school, the quality of the academic and personal education provided and on the positive relationships and culture created to achieve this.
“I am extremely proud of our students, staff and parents for this achievement. It is the result of a great deal of hard work and reflects our commitment to provide an excellent all-round education where our students achieve superb qualifications and develop the skills and knowledge that will make them successful and valuable members of our global community.” Matt Nicolle – Principal

We are delighted to announce that Redmoor Academy has recently invested in GCSEPod, the award-winning digital revision provider used by over 1,250 schools worldwide.
Our Key Stage 4 students now have access to GCSEPod’s library of over 6,000 ‘Pods,’ 3-5 minute videos designed to deliver knowledge in short bursts. GCSEPod makes learning and revision much more manageable: every Pod is mapped to an exam board and contains all the right facts, quotations, keywords, dates and annotated diagrams that students need for GCSE success – all neatly organised into topics and exam playlists.
Your child has already been registered with GCSEPod, so all they need to do now is activate their account by following the instructions below. If they have any issues with this then they can ask their tutor or IT support (Mr Surti or Mr Trown).
- On a web browser, go to www.gcsepod.com and click ‘Sign in with Google’
- Enter their school email address and click ‘Next’
- Select Redmoor Academy from the list of schools
- Enter the ‘username’ and ‘password’ used for their school email account then click ‘Continue’ to verify the account
- Students will then be prompted to create a username, a password and a password hint to help them remember the password (these details will be used for logging into the app so we suggest making the username their school email address and making the password the same one they use for their school email account too)
- Untick any courses that are not studied and click ‘Save’
- An email link will then be sent to your child’s school email address in order to confirm their GCSEPod account
After getting set up for the first time, students will be able to sign in from any web browser using the “Sign in with Google” function. GCSEPod also has an app available in the Apple or Android app stores and this can be logged into with the username and password your child has set up. Please note that your child will need to activate their account on the www.gcsepod.com site first.
It’s that simple! Once they’ve activated their account, your child can browse the GCSEPod library and create their own playlists – just as they would when they’re listening to music. In fact, one of the best things about GCSEPod is that students can download any Pod to a mobile device, so they can watch them at any time, in any place, with or without internet. It’s like they’re carrying a whole set of textbooks in their pocket!
This year teachers will set some of your child’s homework using GCSEPod – as well as encouraging its use for independent study, research and revision. GCSEPod has the ability to identify knowledge gaps and automatically send playlists to help fill them. After completing any homework set on GCSEPod, your child will get a personalised “Boost Playlist” of Pods relevant to their identified areas of weakness. We strongly suggest you encourage your child to review these playlists regularly as this will speed up their progress.
GCSEPod is crammed with brilliant features, from GCSE-style assessment questions and Check & Challenge knowledge quizzes, to revision skills support and help with dealing with exam-related stress.
We recommend that you talk about GCSEPod with your son or daughter – check that they’ve successfully activated their account and encourage them to make use of this amazing resource throughout their GCSE journey. We’ve also attached a handy ‘Quick Start Guide’. Additionally, please visit www.gcsepod.com/parents where you’ll find lots more information and resources.
If you have any questions regarding GCSEPod please do not hesitate to contact us.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs K. Nichols and Mrs H. Jenkins
Assistant Principals

We hope you have had a wonderful summer break and are looking forward, as we are, to students being back to school in the week commencing Monday 23rd August. We have finalised the LFT testing schedule and are delighted to confirm that we are able to stick to our planned return dates for all year groups;
Testing Date | Return to School Date | |
Years 7 & 11 | Monday 23rd August | Tuesday 24th August |
Years 8, 9 & 10 | Tuesday 24th August | Wednesday 25th August |

For their return, please ensure students are in full school uniform and bring with them normal school equipment such as pens, pencils, rulers etc. As we mentioned in our communication in July, students are only permitted to wear a small discreet stud piercing in each ear and a watch – which must be able to be removed for PE lessons. All other piercings must be removed for school and hair colour should be natural.
We have reverted back to to our original times for the school day for all students;
- Students should be on site no later than 8.35am for an 8.40am start
- The school day ends at 3pm
All year groups will have time with their form tutors and assemblies on the first day back with Year 7 having an extended morning on their first day as part of their induction into Redmoor.
It is not only exciting to welcome students back for the new school year but to be able to do so knowing we can provide a full Redmoor experience for the first time in nearly two years. We will continue to promote excellent hand hygiene and hand sanitiser will be readily available. After their initial two LFT tests in school, students will be expected to continue testing at home throughout September. We are awaiting delivery of these tests and will notify you when we send these home with students.
As always, we look forward to your support and involvement in the academic year ahead and meeting you at the relevant events planned for your child.
I hope you enjoy the remaining days of the summer break.
Kind regards,
Matt Nicolle
Principal

After two years of disrupted study, Redmoor Academy is delighted to be celebrating the fantastic achievements of our Year 11 students.
The resilience, commitment, dedication and sheer hard work demonstrated by this group of students has been incredible and they fully deserve the results they have been awarded. Our rigorous and thorough internal assessments ensured that teachers were able to accurately assess the hard work of our students across the breadth of the GCSE course.
This group of students have continually exemplified our Redmoor DNA through their effort and attitudes. We are immensely proud of them. Put simply, they are Redmoor students. All our students have achieved grades that allow them to access Post 16 destinations, with some students achieving eight or nine Grade 9s – an achievement that puts them amongst the elite of every Year 11 student in the UK.
There are too many to mention and we are proud of every single one of our students but notable performances, either for achieving the highest grades or making exceptional progress, include Daisy Hunt, Reuben Wood, Jess Clarke, Samantha Martin, Liam Warren, Alexa-Maria Ilas, Phoebe Smith, Ben Suart, Abigail Salmen and Waleeyah Ishaq.
We wish them all the very best for their futures which are bright and full of potential and possibility.
